Frugal Living

When I was a little girl my Memaw asked me to peel a potato and was shocked when I took half the potato off with the peel. She showed me the proper way to peel a potato so that more food would go in the mash and not the trash.

Another time, my other grandmother was not happy with me for “almost” tossing a bag of stale buns in the garbage. She poured herself a glass of milk, added a little sugar then dipped the bread into the milk and said, “see? you don’t need to waste perfectly good bread”.

On this page you will find ways that I have learned, and ways that my grandparents, showed me how to be thrifty and not waste anything in the kitchen.
